In September 1993, the bureau of education of Tainan City has submitted the Educational Experimental Network Plan to the Ministry of Education. After rounds of careful selection, there were 25 counties and cities outstood others. In June, 1994 they supported this city to establish the Educational Network Center (Temporarily located in Municipal Jinsyue Elementary School and is a subsidiary of our Bureau) It is to cooperate with Ministry of Educationˇ¦s policy to promote information technology education to schools and create a network of educational information for both pupils and teachers of primary and secondary schools, enabling the teachers and students to connect to internet from home and schools. The Educational Network Centre is aimed to create a better environment for information exchange and anticipate that more students and teachers can be benefited and apply the knowledge acquired from schools and daily lives- it is to elevate educational and living standards, at the same time preparing students for the life skills of future electronic society. We truly understand the importance of information network and actively applying for funding from the Ministry of Education to support this center with limited resources that created this educational information network of Tainan City.

Educational Network Center has been established for a number of years, offering education bureau, schools, teachers, students and parents different network services to increase efficiency of administration and improve teaching method. In 1995, we constructed a bulletin board system (BBS) to assist teachers of primary and secondary schools of the city in online teaching and assist them to resolve teaching obstacles. Furthermore, we promoted ˇ§Email to Schoolsˇ¨ and ˇ§TANet to Schoolsˇ¨ Plans in 1996. In 1998-1999 it has been awarded Outstanding Achievement from Ministry of Education. In 2000-2003 it has won the Superior Award, During 2000 to 2003, it won the Superior Award. In 2003, it has been awarded a recommendable website for its remarkable achievement by administration organizations. In the same year, it was the first to establish MAN to connect all primary schools and secondary schools of the City to speed of 100Mbps at the lowest possible cost. Now every school can connect to the educational network with 100Mbps to utilize all network services. They all agree that it is very convenient, economical and efficient. From this, every advanced network communication service can be achieve gradually.
